Additionally, some cities have made significant investments in bike-friendly infrastructure, such as dedicated bike lanes and secure parking facilities.
People who promote cycling argue that it offers numerous benefits. For one, it can lead to improved physical health. Regular cycling helps reduce the risk of heart disease, overweight, and other health issues. Additionally, cycling reduces traffic jams and pollution, creating a cleaner and more sustainable urban environment. It is also a cost-effective way of transportation and can help commuters reduce their costs.
On the other hand, there are challenges associated with increased bicycle use. One major concern is safety. Cyclists are especially likely to be involved in accidents in areas that do not have sufficient bicycle lanes or in areas with heavy car traffic. In addition, weather can be a major obstacle in some areas, making cycling difficult in certain seasons. Today, bicycle-friendly infrastructure is increasing, but it is still not sufficient to deal with the growing number of cyclists.
